Rachel Abell - Security Project Manager

Rachel Abell began her career with the New York State Bridge Authority as a summer intern in 2007 before becoming a casual toll collector at the Mid-Hudson Bridge. In 2014, she started working part-time in the Command Center before becoming a full-time Command Center Administrator in 2015. In 2020, Ms. Abell became the Command Center Manager, working to further the Bridge Authority’s mission by keeping Authority property safe and secure for the traveling public.
In 2022, Ms. Abell became the Security Technician (Bridge) Manager. Working with the Director of Command Center Operations, Safety, and Security, she helped with the creation of the new STB Department within the Authority and the development of the STB role. As STB Manager, Ms. Abell has overseen the transition of toll collector staff into security personnel, Security Technician (Bridges), for all five Authority bridges. She manages their day to day operations, provides or coordinates necessary trainings, and works to ensure the STBs are able to respond to any accident or incidents on Authority property safely.
Ms. Abell holds a B.A from SUNY Oswego and a Master of Science from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh.
