MWBEs and SDVOBs

The New York State Bridge Authority (NYSBA) is committed to meeting Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) goals. NYSBA will seek out qualified/certified M/WBE firms (your firm must be certified by Empire State Development) to encourage participation with us as either Prime or Sub-contracting vendors on all of our projects and purchasing.

We will strive to connect M/WBE firms with potential bidders on our construction projects.  NYSBA will also support potential M/WBE firms to assist them with becoming NYS certified. For larger contracts, NYSBA will establish a goal for MBE/WBE participation. Contractors may seek to meet their MBE/WBE goals by hiring certified MBE/WBE firm(s).

If you are a certified M/WBE and interested in working with NYSBA in any capacity, send us an email to introduce yourself at: MWBE@nysba.ny.gov

SERVICE-DISABLED VETERAN OWNED BUSINESSES

Article 17-B of the Executive Law sets a State-wide participation goal of 6% for SDVOBs (Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses) on all contracts for commodities, services, and technology valued over $25,000 and for all construction contracts valued over $100,000. NYSBA reviews opportunities for subcontracting and other meaningful SDVOB participation on the contract by referring to the directory of New York State certified SDVOBs, located at: Division of Service-Disabled Veterans' Business Development.

NYSBA recognizes the need to promote the employment of Service-Disabled Veterans and to ensure that certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses have opportunities for maximum feasible participation in the performance of NYSBA contracts. In recognition of the service and sacrifices made by Service-Disabled Veterans and in recognition of their economic activity in doing business in New York State, Bidders are expected to consider SDVOBs in the fulfillment of the requirements of the Contract. Such participation may be as subcontractors or suppliers, as protégés, or in other partnering or supporting roles. To learn more about the certification process or the SDVOB program in New York State, please check Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Certification.

If you are a certified SDVOB and interested in working with NYSBA in any capacity, send us an email to introduce yourself at: SDVOB@nysba.ny.gov
